That same year he voiced Casey Jones in TMNT, appeared in Danny Boyle's science fiction thriller Sunshine, and co-starred in The Nanny Diaries alongside Scarlett Johansson.

Evans went on to appear in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World in 2010, playing Lucas Lee, a role he later reprised in voice form in the animated series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off in 2023. He starred in Bong Joon-ho's Snowpiercer in 2013, and that same year made his directorial debut with the romantic drama Before We Go, which he also produced and starred in.

His most prominent screen role came with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he portrayed Steve Rogers, Captain America, beginning with Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011 and continuing through Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Films in which Evans served as a leading actor have grossed $11.4 billion worldwide. Outside the franchise, he starred in the drama Gifted in 2017, the mystery film Knives Out in 2019, and the television miniseries Defending Jacob in 2020.
