About
Christopher Eugene Chalk was born on December 7, 1977, in Asheville, North Carolina. He completed his secondary education at Asheville High School, graduating in 1996, and went on to attend the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Chalk made his Broadway debut in the 2010 production of Fences, a credit that earned him a Theatre World Award that same year. His stage work in that production remains a defining moment in his theatrical career.
On television, Chalk has taken on a range of roles across multiple acclaimed series. He portrayed journalist Gary Cooper in the HBO political drama The Newsroom and Marine Tom Walker in the Showtime series Homeland. He also appeared as murderer Jody Adair in Justified and has been featured in multiple episodes of Law & Order. Chalk is perhaps most widely recognized for playing a young Lucius Fox in the Fox drama series Gotham and a young Dick Hallorann in the HBO horror series It: Welcome to Derry. He additionally co-starred in the HBO historical drama Perry Mason.
His film work includes a role in 12 Years a Slave, released in 2013, and an appearance in The Red Sea Diving Resort in 2019. In 2023, Chalk made his directorial debut with the film Our Deadly Vows.
On April 22, 2017, Chalk married Kimberley Dalton Mitchell in his hometown of Asheville, North Carolina.
