About
Chloe Rose Fineman, born July 20, 1988, in Berkeley, California, is an American actress and comedian best known as a cast member on NBC's Saturday Night Live and for her work in film, television, and theater, including a Broadway appearance in 2024.
Fineman grew up in Berkeley, the daughter of painter Ellen Gunn and biotechnology executive David Fineman. She has two sisters: visual artist Emma and CrossFit athlete Alexia, known as Leka. Her father is Jewish and her mother is Protestant, and she attended Camp Kee Tov, a Jewish day camp at Congregation Beth El in Berkeley. She completed her secondary education at Piedmont High School, graduating in 2006. During her time there, she directed Mary Zimmerman's Metamorphoses as a junior and Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues as a senior, and performed lead roles in Friedrich Dürrenmatt's The Visit and Beth Henley's Crimes of the Heart. She has since returned to Piedmont to direct plays and lead workshops. While still in high school, she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman after placing second in a bird-calling competition, during which she impersonated a peafowl. In 2011, Fineman earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting from the Stella Adler Studio of Acting at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
Following her graduation, Fineman relocated to Los Angeles, where she performed with The Groundlings troupe's Sunday Company and appeared in "Characters Welcome" at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. She built a following through online celebrity impressions, posting videos to Instagram and YouTube featuring figures such as Drew Barrymore, Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Britney Spears, Timothée Chalamet, Julianne Moore, Miley Cyrus, JoJo Siwa, Shia LaBeouf, Kim Cattrall, and Jennifer Coolidge. In 2018, she was recognized as a "New Face" at the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal and received a nomination for Best Comedian at the 2019 Shorty Awards. Her television credits from this period include appearances on Jane the Virgin and Search Party.
On September 12, 2019, Saturday Night Live announced Fineman as a featured player for its 45th season, joining alongside Bowen Yang and Shane Gillis. She was cited as one of the season's best performers by Entertainment Weekly. On September 27, 2021, she was promoted to repertory status ahead of the show's 47th season. Francis Ford Coppola cast Fineman in his science-fiction film Megalopolis after seeing her in a 2019 stage show in which she imitated Melania Trump video calling Ivana Trump; she appeared in the 2024 film as Clodia Pulcher. Her other film credits include portraying Sylvia Plath in the Apple TV+ series Dickinson in 2021, playing wedding planner Natalie Vance in the 2022 romantic comedy Father of the Bride, and portraying Marion Davies in Damien Chazelle's 2022 film Babylon. She starred in the Hulu sex comedy Summer of 69, released in 2025. Since 2023, Fineman has served as spokesperson for Anheuser-Busch's NÜTRL Vodka Seltzer, appearing in television advertisements as a character named Günter, an eccentric vodka-seltzer sommelier.
In 2024, Fineman made her Broadway debut in All In: Comedy About Love, adding a stage credit to her work across television, film, and digital media.
