About
Chester Lionel Watch, known professionally as Chester See, was born on April 20, 1983, in Fairfield, California. He graduated from UCLA in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Theater Arts before pursuing a career that would span television, film, theater, and digital media.
See began his professional career in television, hosting Disney 365, an entertainment news program on the Disney Channel, from 2006 through 2009. In 2007, he launched his YouTube channel, ChesterSee, after writing lyrics for Warner/Chappell. The channel features comedy sketches, short films, and cover songs, and is part of the Maker Studios multi-channel network. By January 2026, the channel had accumulated over 324 million views.
His digital collaborations include a 2011 music video titled Nice Guys, created with YouTubers Nigahiga and Kevin Wu. The following year, See joined Nigahiga, Kevin Wu, and film director Justin Lin in founding the YOMYOMF YouTube channel, which launched an internet-only reality talent competition called Internet Icon; See hosted its first season. Also in 2012, he competed as a contestant on the second season of Dance Showdown.
In 2013, See served as executive producer of Side Effects, an online musical comedy series produced by NBC and AwesomenessTV, in which he also starred as Keith across eight episodes over two seasons. The following year he appeared in a supporting role as Jeff Sanford in the comedy film Camp Takota, alongside Grace Helbig, Mamrie Hart, and Hannah Hart. In 2015, he appeared in the Relativity Digital and FilmOn feature film Bob Thunder: Internet Assassin.
See's Broadway credit is the role of Stacee Jaxx in Rock of Ages, which he performed from October 27, 2014, through January 4, 2015. In 2018, he made a guest appearance on the tenth season of RuPaul's Drag Race, where he received a drag makeover from contestant Miz Cracker. The two won their challenge and received a Klein, Epstein, and Parker gift card valued at $2,000 as a prize.
See received two Streamy Award nominations in 2013 at the 3rd Streamy Awards, in the categories of Best Online Musician and Audience Choice Finalists for Personality of the Year. At the following year's ceremony he earned four additional nominations, winning the Original Song category for Whistle While I Work It, a collaboration with Toby Turner and Wayne Brady. His other 2014 nominations recognized his cover of No Diggity with Flula Borg in the Best Collaboration category, a cover of Roar with Andy Lange, Andrew Garcia, and Josh Golden in the Best Cover Song category, and a nomination for Best Musical Artist. In 2014, New Media Rockstars ranked his YouTube channel at number 44 on its Top 100 Channels list. As of August 2014, he had sold over 500,000 songs on iTunes.
