About

Chesney Snow, born in 1979, is an American stage actor, musician, songwriter, beatboxer, and educator. He originated the role of Boxman in the Primary Stages Off-Broadway production of the a cappella musical In Transit, and reprised that role when the show transferred to Broadway in 2016.

The Off-Broadway production of In Transit received nominations from multiple New York theatre organizations, including the Drama Desk, Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama League, making it the most nominated Off-Broadway musical of the 2010–2011 New York theatre season. The ensemble cast of that Primary Stages production received the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance, an honor Snow shared as a member of the company.

Snow co-founded the American Beatbox Championships in 2010, an annual New York City festival presenting showcases and competitions centered on beatboxing, and served as its executive producer and curator for six years. He is also the executive producer and a featured subject of the documentary film American Beatboxer.

His work as a recording collaborator spans several international projects. In 2005, he appeared as a special guest on Polish singer Kayah's MTV Unplugged album, which reached number four on the Polish music charts and was certified gold. In 2009, he was featured on the official remix of Asher Roth's platinum debut single "I Love College," produced by J. Cardim for SRC Universal. Snow contributed lyrics to the 2012 album Armanda by Polish band Łąki Łan, released on EMI Music Poland, writing the words for four tracks: "Łan for Me," "Infinite," "Sundown," and "Armanda." The album debuted at number 44 on the Polish music charts. In 2014, he wrote the lyrics for "Your High," a song by Polish singer Edyta Górniak that became a bestselling digital download on Polish music portals including iTunes Poland and topped the charts of the radio network Radio Zet. Snow is also a member of the musical group Spoken Love, which released a debut album on Warner Music Poland.

In 2011, Snow participated in the World Science Festival's BioRhythm: Music and the Body exhibit, presented by the Sonic Arts Research Center of Queen's University Belfast in Northern Ireland. He currently holds the position of Lecturer in Residence at Princeton University.
