Charlie Hofheimer is an American actor born on April 17, 1981, in Detroit, Michigan. His family relocated to Brooklyn, New York when he was approximately one year old. He graduated from New York Lab School, a small public school in New York City, in 1999.
Hofheimer began his acting career as a child, making his film debut in the 1994 production of Lassie. He followed that with appearances in Boys (1996) and Fathers' Day (1997). As he transitioned into adult roles, his film credits expanded to include Music of the Heart (1999), Black Hawk Down (2001), The Village (2004), Would You Rather (2012), Paranoia (2013), and Easy Living (2017). In 2008, he produced, directed, wrote, and edited a short film titled Baggage.
On the stage, Hofheimer performed in a range of productions across New York City and beyond. In 1996, he played Kenny Simmonds in Minor Demons at the Currican Theatre in New York City, reprising the role at the Century Theatre in 1997. In 2000, he took on the roles of Ovid Bernstein and Tobias Pfeiffer II in Old Money at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. Additional stage work includes Spittin' Image as Matt at the Forum Theatre, Ruler of my Destiny as Hart at the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut, Opelika as Matty at the Third Eye Repertory Company, and Treasure Island as Jim Hawkins at the Blue Light Theatre Company. His Broadway career, which spanned from 1995 to 2012, includes On the Waterfront, in which he made his Broadway debut as Jimmy, and The Lyons Mail.
Hofheimer's television work includes appearances on Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Law & Order, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, NCIS, Numb3rs, Medium, and House M.D. He is particularly recognized for his recurring role as Abe Drexler across the fourth, fifth, and sixth seasons of the AMC period drama Mad Men, which aired from 2010 to 2013. He subsequently portrayed Ben Grimes on the Fox series 24: Legacy in 2017 and Wallace White in the Apple TV+ miniseries Lady in the Lake in 2024.
