About
Charles Lloyd Pack was a British actor born on 10 October 1902 in Wapping, East London, to working-class parents. He worked across film, television, and stage throughout his career before his death on 22 December 1983 in London at the age of 81.
Pack's film work included several productions for Hammer Films, among them Dracula, The Revenge of Frankenstein, The Man Who Could Cheat Death, The Terror of the Tongs, and Quatermass 2, the latter based on the 1955 BBC television serial. His stage career extended to Broadway, where he appeared in 1963 in The School for Scandal. In 1970, he took on the role of Claud Nau at the Chichester Festival Theatre in Robert Bolt's Vivat! Vivat Regina!
On British television, Pack was recognized for his portrayal of Professor Marks in the series Strange Report. He also appeared in a number of other television productions, including The Avengers, Danger Man, Man in a Suitcase, Randall and Hopkirk, The Adventures of Robin Hood, The Prisoner, and the 1974 miniseries Jennie: Lady Randolph Churchill.
In 1941, Pack married Ulrike Elisabeth Pulay, a Viennese Jewish refugee born on 25 April 1921, who died on 8 April 2000. He was the father of actor Roger Lloyd-Pack and the grandfather of actress Emily Lloyd.
