Charles Jacob Stine was an American stage and silent film actor born on 19 August 1864 in Freeport, Illinois. He died on 5 January 1934 in Bay Shore, Long Island, New York.
Stine began his stage career in 1878, accumulating decades of experience before his Broadway appearances. Between 1910 and 1923, he appeared on Broadway in three musicals: Ginger, The Pearl Maiden, and The Young Turk.
In 1913, Stine transitioned into film work, joining Essanay Studios in Chicago. Among the short films he made there was The Fable of the Roistering Blades (1915), written by George Ade and featuring Wallace Beery. He also appeared alongside Beery in The Ups and Downs (1914). In 1915, Stine appeared in His New Job, a film that also featured Charles Chaplin and Gloria Swanson, though Swanson's role went uncredited. His other film appearances include Captain Jinks of the Horse Marines (1916) and The Misleading Lady (1916).
