Charles Cameron Cherry was a British-born actor whose Broadway career spanned from 1899 to 1923. Born on 19 November 1872 in Greenwich, Kent, England, he was the son of James Frederick Cherry, who died in 1883, and Lady Emily Louisa Haworth-Leslie, who survived until 1936. Through his mother, Cherry was related to Norman Leslie, 19th Earl of Rothes. He died on 2 September 1931.
Cherry devoted a substantial portion of his professional life to the American stage, frequently serving as leading man opposite prominent actresses of the era, among them Elsie de Wolfe, Maxine Elliott, Ethel Barrymore, Marie Doro, and Elsie Ferguson. His Broadway appearances included productions such as Her Own Way, Getting Married, The House That Jack Built, The Camel's Back, and 70, Girls, 70, reflecting a career that encompassed both comedy and drama over more than two decades.
Beyond the stage, Cherry appeared in two silent motion pictures: The Mummy and the Hummingbird in 1915 and Passers By in 1916.
Cherry was married to Grace Dudley. He had two sisters: Miriam Audrey Cherry, who died in 1954 and was known as Mrs. Herbert Owen-Taylor, and Gladys Cherry, born in 1881 and died in 1965, who married George O. S. Pringle and was a survivor of the Titanic.
