Chanté Adams

Chanté Adams is an American actress and Broadway performer, born on December 16, 1994, in Detroit, Michigan. She trained at Cass Technical High School, where she first began acting, before going on to earn a bachelor's degree from Carnegie Mellon University's School of Drama. Following her graduation, she relocated to New York City to pursue a professional acting career.

Within a month of arriving in New York, Adams was invited to audition for the lead role in a biopic about rapper Roxanne Shanté. She secured the part, and filming commenced just eight days after her casting. The resulting film, Roxanne Roxanne, was released in 2017 and earned Adams the Special Jury Prize for Breakthrough Performance at the Sundance Film Festival.

Her film work expanded in the years that followed, with appearances in Monsters and Men (2018), Bad Hair (2020), and The Photograph (2020). In 2021, Adams starred alongside Michael B. Jordan in A Journal for Jordan, a romantic drama directed by Denzel Washington. The following year, she joined the cast of A League of Their Own, Amazon's television adaptation of the 1992 film, appearing alongside D'Arcy Carden, Abbi Jacobson, Roberta Colindrez, Kelly McCormack, and Priscilla Delgado.

Also in 2022, Adams made her Broadway debut in Skeleton Crew, adding a stage credit to her growing body of work across film and television.
