Chandra Lee Schwartz

Chandra Lee Schwartz, born August 18, 1981, is an American theatre performer and a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. Her Broadway career spans credits in Gypsy, Wicked, and other productions, with additional work in national touring productions and off-Broadway theatre.

Schwartz made her Broadway debut in the 2003 revival of Gypsy, starring Bernadette Peters, in which she played Agnes. Her Broadway activity continued through 2005, encompassing credits that also include Hairspray and High School Musical, though those productions were part of her national touring work rather than her Broadway run.

On the national touring circuit, Schwartz played Sharpay in High School Musical and Penny in Hairspray. Her most sustained touring role, however, was Glinda in the First National Tour of Wicked, a run she began on August 21, 2009. During that engagement she performed opposite Donna Vivino as Elphaba before Vivino was succeeded by Jackie Burns. Schwartz remained with the tour through April 17, 2011.

Following her tour, Schwartz joined the Broadway production of Wicked as a replacement Glinda, beginning September 27, 2011. Her final performance in that engagement took place on October 14, 2012, with Burns, her former touring co-star, again playing Elphaba opposite her. Schwartz subsequently returned to the First National Tour of Wicked on July 29, 2014, this time performing alongside Emma Hunton as Elphaba. She closed that production on March 15, 2015, with Jennifer DiNoia in the role of Elphaba.

Beyond her stage credits, Schwartz appeared off-Broadway in What's That Smell: The Music of Jacob Sterling at the Atlantic Theatre Company's New World Stages. She was also cast as Annie in the world premiere of a musical adaptation of Sleepless in Seattle. As of 2024, Schwartz works at 5 Days of Broadway, a theatre summer camp held at the Segerstrom Center for the Performing Arts in Costa Mesa, California.
