About

Cecilia Peck is an American actress, film director, and producer born on May 1, 1958, in Los Angeles, California. The younger of two children of actor Gregory Peck and his second wife, Véronique Passani, she holds dual citizenship in the United States and France and speaks French. She is the aunt of actor Ethan Peck and the former sister-in-law of supermodel Cheryl Tiegs. On September 8, 2001, she married writer Daniel Voll; the couple has two children, a son named Harper Daniel Peck, born in 1999 and named after Harper Lee, and a daughter, Ondine Peck-Voll, born in 2002.

Peck's stage work includes a Broadway appearance in 1987 in Sleight of Hand. Her screen acting career spans television and film, with credits including the 1988 film My Best Friend Is a Vampire, the 1990 film Torn Apart, in which she played the leading role, and the 1993 television film The Portrait, in which she portrayed the daughter of her father's character. Her performance in The Portrait earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination.

Her career expanded significantly into producing and directing. She produced A Conversation with Gregory Peck, a documentary about her father that premiered as a Special Selection at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival and subsequently aired on TCM and PBS American Masters. She directed and produced the documentary short Justice For All, an examination of capital punishment that received the Silver Gavel Award. As an associate producer on Defending Our Daughters, a non-fiction film about women's human rights produced for Lifetime Television, she contributed to a project that received the Voices of Courage Award from the Women's Refugee Committee.

Peck directed and produced Shut Up & Sing, a documentary about the backlash against the Dixie Chicks following their public opposition to the Iraq War. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, won a Special Jury Prize at the Chicago Film Festival, took Best Documentary honors at the Sydney, Aspen, and Woodstock Film Festivals, and was shortlisted for the 2007 Academy Awards. Her subsequent feature documentary, Brave Miss World, released on Netflix, followed Linor Abargil's efforts to advocate for survivors of rape. The film received a 2014 Emmy Award nomination for Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking.

In 2020, Peck directed Seduced: Inside the NXIVM Cult, a four-part documentary series following India Oxenberg and other women who recounted their experiences within NXIVM, a self-help organization based in Albany, New York. Prior to making the film, Peck had herself been targeted for recruitment by the organization; a former co-worker had contacted her suggesting she meet with Allison Mack, one of NXIVM's leaders and recruiters. Peck did not respond to the outreach and later received an email from the recruiter offering an apology. She served as director, writer, and executive producer on the series. In 2023, she directed and produced Escaping Twin Flames for Netflix, a documentary examining the Twin Flames Universe cult founded by Jeff and Shaleia Divine, told through the accounts of former members.

Peck operates her production company, Rocket Girl Productions, which focuses on independent feature films and documentaries. In March 2021, she gifted clothing and loaned personal items to create the exhibition "From Paris to Hollywood, the Fashion and Influence of Véronique and Gregory Peck," housed at the Denver Art Museum. Since 2008, Peck and her family have presented the Gregory Peck Award for Cinematic Excellence at the Dingle International Film Festival, with the award extended to the San Diego International Film Festival beginning in 2014. Recipients of the award have included Patrick Stewart, Keith Carradine, and Laurence Fishburne. Peck joined the board of directors of the San Diego International Film Festival in 2018.
