Cathryn Harrison

Cathryn Mary Lee Harrison (25 May 1959 – October 2018) was an English actress born in London, England. She was the daughter of actor and singer Noel Harrison and Sara Lee Eberts, and the granddaughter of actor Sir Rex Harrison.

Harrison launched her screen career at age thirteen in Robert Altman's 1972 film Images. She went on to appear in Louis Malle's Black Moon (1975), Malle's first English-language film, in which she played the role of Lily. Her film work also included a role as assistant stage manager Irene in the screen adaptation of Ronald Harwood's The Dresser, and an appearance in the Australian production Blue Fire Lady (1977). Her final film credit was The Three Dumas, in which she portrayed Marchioness Davy De La Pailleterie.

Her television work spanned several decades and included a range of British productions. She appeared in Love on a Branch Line, a 1989 episode of Hannay opposite Robert Powell, and the ITV series Soldier Soldier, in which she played Major Tom Cadman's wife. In the 1990 production Portrait of a Marriage, she took on the role of Violet Trefusis, the lesbian lover of Vita Sackville-West. Harrison also worked extensively in British radio drama throughout her career.

In 1981, Harrison appeared on Broadway in The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby, bringing her stage work to American audiences. She died in October 2018.
