Catherine Charlebois

Catherine Charlebois is an American actress born on July 16, 1987, in Andover, Massachusetts, who has built her career primarily around musical theatre, with Broadway appearances spanning 2003 to 2009. She later relocated to Virginia.

Charlebois completed her secondary education at Andover High School in Massachusetts, graduating in 2005, before enrolling at Syracuse University in New York. There she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theatre in 2009. Her time at Syracuse included a range of roles on the university stage: Anabelle Glick in Lucky Stiff (October 5–17, 2007), Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof (November 28–December 30, 2007), Johanna in Sweeney Todd (April 24–May 10, 2008), and a role in the ensemble of Steel Pier (October 3–12, 2008).

Following graduation, Charlebois appeared as Billie Delgado in Hurricane at the Theatre at St. Clement's through the New York Theatre Festival, running September 28 to October 10, 2009. She then joined the company of Wicked in 2010 as a Universal Swing and understudy for both Nessarose and the Midwife across all productions. In 2011 she played Shelby in Steel Magnolias at Triad Stage, running April 10 through May 8. That same year she portrayed Belle in Beauty and the Beast at Music Theatre Wichita, June 28 through July 3, 2016.

The role of Nessarose Thropp in Wicked became the defining credit of Charlebois's career. She first performed the role on the Munchkinland Tour from January 17 through October 11, 2012, before transitioning to the Broadway production at the Gershwin Theatre, where she played the part from December 4, 2012, through May 25, 2014. She subsequently served as emergency cover for Nessarose on the Munchkinland Tour from July 9 through August 28, 2014, and returned to the Gershwin Theatre in the same capacity from January 7 through January 21, 2015, before resuming the role in full from January 22 through March 8, 2015. Charlebois returned to the Munchkinland Tour as Nessarose from August 22, 2017, through April 22, 2018, and again as emergency cover from June 20 through August 5, 2018, and beginning December 23, 2021.
