Carlo Delle Piane (2 February 1936 – 23 August 2019) was an Italian film actor and Broadway performer born in Rome. Over a career spanning more than seven decades, he accumulated credits in over 100 films between 1948 and his death in 2019.
Delle Piane entered the film industry at age twelve, making his debut in Duilio Coletti's Heart. Through the mid-1950s, he became associated with a recurring character type: the arrogant yet fundamentally good-natured boy. His career shifted significantly through his collaboration with director Pupi Avati, which brought him a wider range of roles encompassing comic and surreal work as well as melancholic and dramatic performances.
Among his screen accolades, Delle Piane won the Nastro d'Argento for Best Actor in 1984 for his work in A School Outing. His performance in Christmas Present earned him the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the 43rd Venice International Film Festival.
In addition to his film work, Delle Piane appeared on Broadway in 1964 in the production of Rugantino.
