About
Carleton Macy (1861–1946) was an American actor whose career spanned stage, screen, and vaudeville. Born in Staten Island, New York, Macy built an extensive theatrical foundation before expanding into other performance mediums.
His Broadway career stretched from 1897 to 1936 and encompassed a wide range of productions. Among his stage credits were The New Dominion, Skidding, The Trouper, The Scarlet Lily, and Mountain Fury. This sustained presence on Broadway over nearly four decades reflected a consistent engagement with the American stage throughout his professional life.
In vaudeville, Macy performed alongside his wife, Maude Hall, in an act billed as "Magpie and the Jay." He also appeared in a separate vaudeville act with performer Al Lydell under the name "Two Old Cronies."
