Carl Harbord (26 January 1908 – 18 October 1958) was an English actor who worked across stage, film, and television. Born in Salcombe, England, he built a career that spanned multiple decades and continents.
Harbord's stage career began in London at age 19, when he appeared in The Happy Husband at the Criterion Theatre. He subsequently performed in Australia in 1933, marking his first theatrical work in that country. His Broadway debut came in 1934 in a production of Noël Coward's Conversation Piece at the 44th Street Theatre, launching a Broadway career that would continue through 1957. His New York credits included Hide and Seek, Much Ado About Everything, Romeo + Juliet, Jupiter Laughs, and Madame Bovary, among other productions.
Harbord's film work began during the final years of the silent era and carried into the early sound period. He appeared in several productions for British International Pictures, including The Informer, and took a notable role in Anthony Asquith's First World War film Tell England. He later relocated to Hollywood, where he continued to work in supporting and minor roles across a range of productions.
