Candy Brown

Candy Brown, also known as Candy Brown Houston, is an American dancer, choreographer, and actress whose work spans theatre, film, and television. Her Broadway career extended from 1964 to 1985, encompassing a range of productions that established her as a consistent presence on the New York stage.

Among her most notable stage credits is the original Broadway cast of Chicago, the Bob Fosse-directed musical that opened in 1975, in which Brown originated the role of June. She was also part of the original cast of A Chorus Line and appeared in Pippin, another production associated with Fosse. Additional Broadway credits include Applause, Hello, Dolly!, Grind, and Purlie, the latter of which featured Cleavon Little and Sherman Hemsley. Beyond New York, Brown performed in the West Coast premiere of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf.

Brown's connection to Bob Fosse extended to television as well. She appears in Liza with a Z, the Emmy Award-winning television special starring Liza Minnelli that Fosse directed. Her television work also includes appearances on Six Feet Under, Sister Sister, Nash Bridges, and NYPD Blue. On the film side, her credits include Zebrahead and Ali.
