Camilla Dalberg was a German-American actress and writer born in Frankfurt, Germany on June 28, 1870. She built a career spanning stage and film across the 1910s and 1920s, working in both theatrical and early cinematic productions before her death in the Bronx, New York in February 1968 at the age of 97.
Dalberg's stage work included notable roles such as Mrs. Clare in Tess of the D'Urbervilles in 1913 and Mother in The Seven Sisters in 1915, the latter production also featuring her husband, fellow actor Charles Kraus. Her Broadway career extended from 1915 to 1928 and encompassed a range of productions, among them Buddies, Pride, The Great Lover, Money from Home, and Hurricane.
Beyond the stage, Dalberg worked in early film and demonstrated creative ambitions that extended to writing. In 1912 she wrote and starred in the short film After Many Days, marking her as both a performer and a contributor to the development of early screen storytelling.
