Caesar Samayoa

Caesar Samayoa is an American stage actor whose Broadway career has spanned from 2006 to 2025. His parents immigrated to the United States from Guatemala, and he was raised in Spanish Harlem. He attended school in Emerson, New Jersey, and his interest in theater developed after watching Anna Deavere Smith perform in Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992. Samayoa initially enrolled at Bucknell University before transferring to Ithaca College, where he earned a degree in drama.

His first New York City theater role came in 1997, when he appeared in Joe Calarco's Shakespeare's R&J, playing the roles of Juliet, Benvolio, and Montague. His Broadway credits include Sister Act, Barack on Broadway, Come From Away, How to Dance in Ohio, and Just in Time, among other productions.

Samayoa joined the cast of Come From Away in 2015, originating the roles of Kevin J. and Ali when the show reached Broadway in 2017. He has spoken about his initial hesitation upon being approached for the production, having heard it described as a "9/11 musical" and having been present in New York City on the day of the September 11 attacks. He agreed to pursue the role after reading the script at his agent's request, and he remained with the production until 2022.

In 2023, Samayoa originated the role of Dr. Amigo in the Broadway production of How to Dance in Ohio. Two years later, he originated the role of Don Kirshner and additional roles in Just in Time, the Broadway bio-musical about Bobby Darin.

Samayoa married talent agent Christopher Freer in June 2022. Outside of theater, he enjoys cooking.
