Her mother is of English, Swiss, and Italian descent, and her father is of Scottish, Lebanese, and German descent. She has a brother and a sister and attended Gaither High School in Tampa. Snow began her career in the entertainment industry at the age of three, appearing in a print advertisement for Burdines department stores.
Snow first gained widespread attention through her work in television, joining the cast of the CBS soap opera Guiding Light in 1998, where she played troubled teenager Susan "Daisy" Lemay for three years. Her performance earned her a Young Artist Award for Best Young Actress, along with nominations for two additional Young Artist Awards and a Soap Opera Digest Award. From 2002 to 2005, she starred as Meg Pryor in the NBC drama series American Dreams, a role for which she received a Young Artist Award nomination and three Teen Choice Award nominations. Her television work during this period further included a portrayal of neo-Nazi high school student Ariel Alderman in the third season of FX's Nip/Tuck and an appearance as young Lily Rhodes in an episode of Gossip Girl.
Snow's film career expanded steadily through the mid-2000s. She appeared alongside Vin Diesel and Lauren Graham in the family comedy The Pacifier (2005) and co-starred with Jesse Metcalfe in the teen romantic comedy John Tucker Must Die (2006), which earned $68 million worldwide. She appeared in the season seven finale of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as a young woman with bipolar disorder and was featured in the music video for "The Phrase That Pays" by The Academy Is..., released in July 2006.
In 2007, Snow appeared in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Hairspray, directed by Adam Shankman, with whom she had previously worked on The Pacifier. She played Amber Von Tussle, the daughter of Michelle Pfeiffer's character, and performed several musical numbers in the film, including a solo called "The New Girl In Town," a song that had been cut from the original Broadway production. The following year, she took the lead role of Donna Keppel in the slasher film Prom Night (2008), which was released on April 11, 2008, and grossed $57.2 million at the box office. That same year, Snow made her Broadway appearance, marking her stage debut in 2008. She had also previously participated in The 24 Hour Plays in 2004.
Snow joined the cast of the NBC legal comedy-drama Harry's Law as a series regular beginning January 17, 2011, and returned as a recurring character in its second season. She also starred alongside Evan Ross in the thriller 96 Minutes (2011). Her career reached a new level of popular recognition with the musical comedy film Pitch Perfect (2012), in which she played a cappella singer Chloe. The original film grossed $115.4 million worldwide. She reprised the role in Pitch Perfect 2 (2015), which earned over $287 million globally, surpassing the first film's total gross within five days and becoming the highest-grossing music comedy film of all time, overtaking School of Rock's $131.3 million.
