About
Brittany Adebumola is an American actress born on November 4, 1996, of Nigerian and Jamaican descent. She grew up in Florida before relocating to Brooklyn at age 14, where she attended Clara Barton High School. Adebumola studied acting through programs with Opening Act and the Art Effect, and later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University.
Adebumola launched her television career in 2020 with the Netflix teen drama Grand Army, playing Tamika Jones. The following year, she took on the role of Shanice Murray in the CW's science fiction reboot of 4400. During this period she also made guest appearances on the Paramount+ series Guilty Party and the CBS series The Equalizer.
In 2023, Adebumola appeared in two significant projects simultaneously. She joined the cast of the Hulu adaptation of Zakiya Dalila Harris's novel The Other Black Girl, playing the main role of Malaika. That same year, she made her Broadway debut in Jaja's African Hair Braiding at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, a credit that earned her a 2024 Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Featured Performance in a Play.
Beyond live-action work, Adebumola voiced the character Nakia in the third season of the Marvel Cinematic Universe animated series What If...? in 2024. She also has an upcoming role in the series Demascus, which screened at SXSW.
