About

Brian Hutchison is an American actor based in New York City whose Broadway career spans from 2001 to 2018. Educated at Sewickley Academy, where he graduated in 1989, Hutchison went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in English from Lafayette College in 1993 before completing a Master of Fine Arts at the University of San Diego.

During his graduate studies, Hutchison encountered director Jack O'Brien, who cast him in the title role of Brendan Behan's The Hostage at San Diego's Old Globe Theater. Following his graduation, he returned to the Old Globe for productions of All My Sons and Blue/Orange, and has since performed at major regional theaters across the United States.

Hutchison's Broadway credits include The Invention of Love, Exit the King, Man and Boy, and The Boys in the Band. His stage work has also extended off Broadway, where his credits include Downstate, as well as Exit the King alongside Geoffrey Rush, Looped opposite Valerie Harper, and Man and Boy with Frank Langella. In 2018, he played Alan in the Tony Award-winning revival of The Boys in the Band, directed by Joe Mantello. The production featured Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, Matt Bomer, Andrew Rannells, Tuc Watkins, Charlie Carver, Robin de Jesus, and Michael Benjamin Washington. The full cast later reprised their roles in a film adaptation shot in 2019 and released on Netflix in September 2020.

On television, Hutchison has appeared in The Gilded Age, The Equalizer, Blue Bloods, Madam Secretary, Chicago Med, Jessica Jones, Elementary, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Godfather of Harlem, The Sinner, FBI: Most Wanted, and Lisey's Story.

Beyond acting, Hutchison is a SOVA and Audie Award-winning audiobook narrator who has recorded more than 300 titles for companies including Audible, Recorded Books, Blackstone Audio, and Simon & Schuster. He is additionally a professional photographer whose work encompasses publicity headshots for actors, as well as candid portraits, landscapes, and architectural photography.

Hutchison married real estate agent Ron Maggio in 2018, and the couple divides their time between New York City and East Hampton. His brother, Chris Hutchison, is an actor and company member at Houston's Alley Theatre in Texas.
