Brian Dunphy is an Irish folk singer and Broadway performer born on June 17, 1974, in Dublin, Ireland. He is the son of Sean Dunphy, a showband singer who represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1967.
Dunphy began his performance career as the lead singer in Riverdance: The Show, which brought him to Broadway in New York City in 2000, where the production was staged as Riverdance - On Broadway. His work with the show established him as a prominent voice in Irish musical performance. He subsequently joined the Three Irish Tenors, touring throughout the United States, and was also a member of the band Druid. In 2005, he released a solo album titled Timeless.
In 2008, Dunphy became a member of The High Kings, a four-person Irish folk band that also includes Finbarr Clancy, Darren Holden, and Martin Furey. Within the group, he plays the bodhrán and guitar. The High Kings have released six albums and have toured across the United States, Europe, and Australia.
