About
Brandon Micheal Hall is an American actor born on February 3, 1993, in Anderson, South Carolina, where he was raised by his mother, a minister. He completed his freshman and sophomore years at Pendleton High School before transferring to the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts & Humanities in Greenville. Hall subsequently enrolled at the Juilliard School in New York City to study drama, graduating in 2015.
Hall's television career began when he was cast in a 2015 pilot for LFE, directed by David Slade, though the project did not advance to series. The following year he secured his first series regular role, joining the TBS dark comedy Search Party as Julius Marcus, a journalist and former boyfriend of the show's lead character Dory Sief, played by Alia Shawkat. He appeared as a main cast member through the first two seasons and returned as a guest star in the third and fourth seasons, with the series ultimately running from 2016 to 2022 on TBS and HBO Max. In 2017, Hall was cast in the title role of the ABC sitcom The Mayor, portraying an aspiring rapper who accidentally becomes mayor of his hometown. The series earned positive reviews before being cancelled after one season. Hall then took on the lead role of Miles Finer in the CBS comedy-drama God Friended Me in 2018, playing an outspoken atheist who begins helping strangers after receiving a Facebook friend request from an account claiming to be God. The show ran for two seasons before its cancellation in 2020.
Hall's film work includes Cecile on the Phone (2017), Monster Party (2018), Lez Bomb (2018), and the romantic comedy Always a Bridesmaid (2019), in which he played a character named Kenny. That film was directed by Trey Haley and written by Yvette Nicole Brown, marking her first screenplay.
Hall made his Broadway debut on November 18, 2021, appearing in Alice Childress's Trouble in Mind. Outside of his professional work, Hall volunteers at least one Sunday per month with Hashtag Lunchbag Brooklyn, an organization that prepares sandwiches for people in need in Brooklyn.
