Brandon Contreras is an actor and writer born on March 20, 1990. They use they/he pronouns and identify as gay and Latino. Contreras earned a BFA in musical theatre from Pace University in 2012 and has since built a career spanning Broadway, off-Broadway, and digital media.
Contreras was involved in the development of Almost Famous before originating the role of Silent Ed Vallencourt in the Old Globe production in 2019. When the show transferred to Broadway in 2022, they reprised the role, marking their Broadway debut. The production is among the Broadway credits Contreras accumulated between 2009 and 2025, which also include Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical and The Heights.
In 2023, Contreras joined the principal cast of the off-Broadway production of Titanique, playing the role of Cal. During that run, they briefly stepped away to perform in the New York City Center Encores production of Titanic. Also in 2023, Contreras joined the Broadway production of Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical as the standby for the role of Charles Cholmondeley & Others and the second cover for the role of Hester Leggatt & Others. On February 9 of that production's run, it was announced that Contreras would take over as the principal actor for the role of Charles Cholmondeley & Others.
Outside of theatre, Contreras co-founded the queer sketch comedy group The Homo Sapien Experience in 2018 alongside Matt Curiano. By 2024, the group had accumulated 1.5 million followers on TikTok.
