Brandi Chavonne Massey

Brandi Chavonne Massey, born August 12, 1979, is an American stage actress and singer originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, where she attended The School for Creative and Performing Arts.

Massey made her Broadway debut in 1997 in Jekyll and Hyde, performing as an ensemble member and serving as understudy to the role of Lucy. She returned to Broadway in Caroline, or Change, in which she played the character known as The Radio. Her Broadway credits also include Wicked, where she was an ensemble member and understudy for the role of Elphaba, a tenure that concluded on December 17, 2006, when she departed the production to focus on recording an album. Additional Broadway appearances include Linda Eder: The Holiday Concert, with her Broadway work spanning from 2001 to 2007.

Beyond Broadway, Massey spent time in London performing in The Lion King as the lioness Nala from 2002 to 2003. Her Off-Broadway credits include Ghetto Superstar, Carmen Jones, and Caroline, or Change, as well as the Encores! production of Hair. She also participated in the National tour of The Color Purple, Oprah Winfrey's stage adaptation, understudying the roles of both Celie and Nettie.

In regional theater, Massey starred as Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar at North Carolina Theatre in Raleigh, North Carolina, running from February 24 through March 4, 2007. Later that year, from July 18 through 29, 2007, she played Lorell in the Atlanta production of Dreamgirls at the Fox Theatre, appearing alongside original Broadway cast member Jennifer Holliday.
