About
Bob Stillman is an American actor, singer, and songwriter born on December 2, 1954, in New York City. He studied piano at Juilliard and composition at Princeton University.
Stillman's Broadway career spans from 1988 to 2014. His first Broadway credit was Legs Diamond in 1988, followed by his debut as Erik in Grand Hotel in 1989. He subsequently joined Kiss of the Spider Woman as a replacement cast member in 1994. His dual role as pianist and actor in Dirty Blonde in 2000 earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Play. In 2003, his song "Long Hard Day" was featured in the Broadway musical Urban Cowboy, which received a Tony Award nomination for Best Original Score. He served as standby for the role of Cosmé McMoon in the 2005 Broadway production of Souvenir, a role he later performed at the Good Theater in Portland, Maine in November 2007. He appeared as George Gould Strong in Grey Gardens, first Off-Broadway in 2006 and then in the Broadway transfer the same year. His Broadway work continued with Act One in 2014, in which he played Sam Harris, and he served as standby in both It's Only a Play and Living on Love.
Off-Broadway, Stillman played a songwriter in The Last Session in 1997. He portrayed The Husband in the 2011 revival of Hello Again, earning a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical. In November 2012, he appeared in the Off-Broadway premiere of Paula Vogel's A Civil War Christmas as Abraham Lincoln.
Stillman is also active as a concert and cabaret performer. He performed his own songs at the Sh-K-Boom Room at the Cutting Room in New York City in March 2001 and presented a solo show at 54 Below in November 2012. In January and February 2012, he performed in the Adam Guettel song cycle Myths and Hymns at the Prospect Theater Company. He appeared in the Town Hall concert series Broadway by the Year, The Broadway Musicals of 1972 in April 2013, performed in the New York Musical Theatre Festival's staged concerts of Song Moments by Daniel Maté in July 2013, and took part in Scott Siegel's Broadway Ballyhoo! at the Laurie Beechman Theatre in October 2013. In September 2014, he appeared in Broadway Showstopper Divos — A Swell Party at the Metropolitan Room in New York City, a benefit for The Actors Fund. His studio recording Come Down Angel was released in 2003.
