About

Blake Warren Bashoff, born May 30, 1981, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is an American actor whose work spans television, film, and Broadway. The son of Irene (Zalcman) and Kenneth Bashoff, he was raised in a Jewish family and began acting at age ten, initially working in commercials before expanding into singing, dancing, film, and theater. After graduating from George Washington High School in 1999, he relocated to Hollywood to pursue his career.

Bashoff's early screen work included appearances in the films Bushwhacked, Big Bully, and The New Swiss Family Robinson, with his performance in Big Bully earning him a Young Artist Award. In 1998 he appeared in The New Swiss Family Robinson, and in 2000 he took on the role of Jesse in You're Invited to Mary-Kate and Ashley's School Dance Party. He subsequently appeared in Deuces Wild and Minority Report, and held a recurring role in the first season of the CW series One Tree Hill. Following a period away from acting, he returned with a recurring role on Judging Amy, playing Eric Black, an abused gay teenager. He also appeared in an episode of Charmed as Duncan, a young man who accidentally conjured Lady Godiva, and portrayed a victim's son in the seventh episode of season four of NCIS.

In October 2006, Bashoff landed a recurring role as Karl Martin in the ABC series Lost, appearing across both the third and fourth seasons of the show. He later played Mark, Peggy Olson's boyfriend, in season four of Mad Men, and appeared in the 2008 film Together Again for the First Time alongside David Ogden Stiers and Julia Duffy.

On December 18, 2007, Bashoff made his Broadway debut in the Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening, stepping into the role of Moritz Stiefel as a replacement for John Gallagher Jr. His Broadway run concluded on August 2, 2008, after which Gerard Canonico, a former ensemble member and Moritz understudy, succeeded him in the role. Bashoff subsequently reprised the role of Moritz Stiefel on the first national tour of Spring Awakening, remaining with the touring production until August 16, 2009, when he was replaced by Taylor Trensch.

Bashoff is mostly retired from acting and currently lives on a farm with his husband.
