Bill Owen, born William John Owen Rowbotham, was an English actor and songwriter. He appeared on Broadway in 1950 in a production of As You Like It, bringing his stage work to American audiences. Originally from London, England, Owen built a career that spanned both the stage and screen.

Owen is perhaps most widely recognized for his long-running television role as Compo Simmonite in the BBC comedy series Last of the Summer Wine, a Yorkshire-based production in which he appeared for over a quarter century.
