Betsy Struxness

Betsy Struxness is an American actress and professional photographer whose Broadway career spanned from 2003 to 2015. She earned a BFA in dance from the Juilliard School before relocating to New York to pursue work in musical theatre.

Struxness built her early stage experience through touring productions, including Oklahoma! and All Shook Up, in which she performed in the ensemble. She subsequently joined the Chicago company of Wicked, working in the ensemble and understudying the role of Nessarose, before transferring first to the San Francisco production and then to Broadway. Her Broadway debut in Memphis followed, where she played the Double Dutch Girl and understudied the role of Mama.

In 2012, Struxness originated the roles of Angel of Mercy and Townsperson in Leap of Faith, also serving as understudy for the role of Sam. Later that same year she joined the ensemble of Scandalous: The Life and Trials of Aimee Semple McPherson. The following year she appeared in the original Broadway cast of Matilda the Musical, performing in the ensemble and understudying the role of Mrs. Wormwood.

After departing Matilda in 2014, Struxness joined the ensemble of Hamilton, which ran off-Broadway for five months in 2015 before transferring to Broadway. During her time with the production she also took on understudy responsibilities for the role of Angelica Schuyler. She departed the cast in March 2016, prior to the filming of the 2020 feature film recording of the show. In 2017, she appeared in a stage adaptation of Shakespeare in Love as the character Viola.

Outside of theatre, Struxness made a guest appearance on the television series Louie as a character named Sunshine and appeared on The Onion News Network in 2011 as an Applebee's customer. She is also a professional photographer.
