Born Patricia Betsy Hrunek on November 1, 1926, in East Chicago, Indiana, Betsy Palmer was the daughter of Marie and Rudolph Vincent Hrunek. She studied at the Goodman School of Drama at DePaul University and began her acting career in summer stock theatre. In 1954, she married Vincent J. Merendino; they had one daughter, Melissa Merendino.
Her film credits include "Mister Roberts," "The Long Gray Line," "Queen Bee," "Friday the 13th," "Friday the 13th Part 2," "Isabel's Choice," "Goddess of Love," "The Fear: Resurrection," "Unveiled," and "Bell Witch: The Movie." On television, she appeared in "The Philco-Goodyear Television Playhouse," "Goodyear Playhouse," "Studio One in Hollywood," "The United States Steel Hour," and "Knots Landing."
