Bertram Grassby was an English actor born on 23 December 1880 in Lincolnshire, England. He worked across both stage and screen during the early decades of the twentieth century, building a career that spanned Broadway productions and an extensive body of silent film work. He died on 7 December 1953 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Grassby made his Broadway appearances between 1907 and 1910, taking part in a range of productions that included the musical Havana, the farce The Inferior Sex, Marta of the Lowlands, and Anna Karenina.
Following his stage work, Grassby transitioned to film and became a prolific presence in the silent era. Between 1914 and 1927, he appeared in more than 90 silent films. In his personal life, Grassby was married to American actress Gerard Alexander.
