About
Beck Bennett is an American actor and comedian born Christopher Beck Bennett on October 1, 1984, in Wilmette, Illinois, to Sarah and Andy Bennett. He grew up performing at the Children's Theatre of Winnetka and graduated from New Trier High School in 2003, where he played Jean Valjean in a school production of Les Misérables. He went on to study acting in the B.F.A. program at the USC School of Dramatic Arts.
While at USC, Bennett joined the improv and sketch group Commedus Interruptus in 2003 alongside Kyle Mooney and Nick Rutherford. Following his 2007 graduation, the three teamed with editor and director Dave McCary to form the sketch comedy group Good Neighbor. The group drew attention from comedian Louis C.K. and director Steven Spielberg, the latter sending a personal acknowledgment to the members after watching their parody of Hook titled Unbelievable Dinner. In 2011, Bennett created the satirical political talk show Fresh Perspectives and hosted the YouTube series Theatre of Life. That same year's work on Fresh Perspectives helped him secure a role in AT&T's "It's Not Complicated" commercial campaign, in which he conducted interviews with children.
Bennett's film work during this period included the 2012 sketch-comedy ensemble film Kill Me Now and Beside Still Waters, written and directed by Chris Lowell. In 2013, he appeared in an episode of Last Man Standing, voiced a character in Axe Cop for Fox's Animation Domination High-Def block, completed the independent film Balls Out, and appeared in season four of Arrested Development. Good Neighbor also produced a Comedy Central pilot that year with Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez Productions, though it was not picked up, in part because three of the group's four members relocated to New York City to join Saturday Night Live.
Bennett debuted as a featured player on SNL during its 39th season on September 28, 2013, and was promoted to repertory status for the 41st season on October 2, 2015. He remained with the show for eight seasons before departing after the 46th season finale on May 22, 2021, telling Time magazine he left in order to be with his wife in Los Angeles. He later made a cameo appearance in the Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special and reprised his impression of Vladimir Putin in the pre-taped sketch "The White Potus" in April 2025.
Beyond live-action work, Bennett has built a substantial voice acting career. He voiced Launchpad McQuack in the DuckTales reboot from 2017 to 2021 and Eric in the Sony Pictures Animation film The Mitchells vs. the Machines. He voices Hamster in the Disney Channel animated series Hamster & Gretel and is set to voice Sterling in Fixed. Since 2023, he has voiced Hank the Buffalo in Buffalo Wild Wings commercials. In 2025, he appeared as Steve Lombard in Superman, and in August of that year he and Mooney launched the podcast What's Our Podcast? Also in 2025, Bennett made his Broadway debut in All Out: Comedy About Ambition.
Bennett and fellow SNL alumnus Kyle Mooney have been friends since their time together at the University of Southern California. Bennett began a relationship with actress Jessy Hodges, and the couple married on August 25, 2018. In March 2022, Hodges announced via Instagram that the two had welcomed a son.
