About

Rebecca Grace Tobin was born on January 18, 1986, in Marietta, Georgia, where she grew up as the younger of two daughters in a family of attorneys. Her father is Jewish. Tobin's first experience performing came at age four, when she appeared as a Christmas tree in a school holiday pageant. She attended Pebblebrook High School before transferring to Joseph Wheeler High School midway through her senior year, an experience that subjected her to bullying. She later trained at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City, graduating in 2007.

Tobin launched her professional stage career in Houston, Texas, where she performed as Etcetera in a Theatre Under the Stars production of Cats. She returned to the same company the following year for a Houston production of West Side Story, again as an ensemble member. In 2008, she joined the ensemble of Paper Mill Playhouse's production of High School Musical on Stage! in New Jersey. Between 2008 and 2009, she performed in the ensemble of Oklahoma! in Atlanta with the Theater of the Stars company. That same period brought her Broadway debut, when she joined Rock of Ages as a replacement in the role of Sherrie Christian and as a swing. In 2011, she toured with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Tobin became widely recognized through her television work on the Fox musical comedy-drama series Glee, where she portrayed cheerleader and glee club member Kitty Wilde from 2012 until the series concluded in 2015. She first appeared as Kitty in the fourth season premiere episode "The New Rachel," serving as a recurring cast member throughout that season before being elevated to a series regular for the fifth season. Multiple songs she recorded as Kitty were released as digital singles and appeared on the show's soundtrack albums.

Her television work extended beyond Glee to include a 2014 guest appearance on Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva, where she played Empress Katia in the episode "Afterlife," and a role as Kimmee Kittson in the ABC Family sitcom Mystery Girls episode "Passing the Torch," also in 2014. In 2015, she guest starred as computer coder Blaze Talcott in the NCIS: Los Angeles episode "Blaze of Glory" on CBS.

Since December 2015, Tobin has co-hosted the podcast The Lady Gang alongside Keltie Knight and Jac Vanek. In October 2018, the podcast expanded into a talk show, Ladygang, which premiered on the E! network. In May 2013, Tobin appeared in an issue of Maxim.

In her personal life, Tobin was in a relationship with nightclub entrepreneur Matt Bendik until his death on July 10, 2014. She became engaged to entrepreneur Zach Martin in May 2016, and the two married on December 3, 2016, in a private ceremony in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, officiated by her Glee co-star Jane Lynch. Tobin and Martin were open about their fertility struggles and IVF journey, and on February 22, 2022, Tobin announced via Instagram that the couple had welcomed a son through surrogacy.
