Barnett Parker was a British actor born on September 11, 1886, in Batley, England. He built a career that spanned both the stage and screen, establishing himself as a working performer across Broadway productions and Hollywood films before his death on August 5, 1941.
Parker's Broadway career extended from 1912 to 1934 and encompassed a range of productions in both the play and revue formats. His stage credits included the revue A Night in Paris and the play The Red Robe, as well as the plays Going Gay and The Red Cat. He also appeared in the revue Thumbs Up!, among additional productions during that period.
Alongside his stage work, Parker accumulated an extensive list of film appearances. His screen credits included Born to Dance, Broadway Melody of 1938, Babes in Arms, At the Circus, and Marie Antoinette, as well as The Last of Mrs. Cheyney, The Emperor's Candlesticks, and Double Wedding. He also appeared in Wake Up and Live, Personal Property, Married Before Breakfast, Live, Love and Learn, Navy Blue and Gold, and Sally, Irene and Mary, among many others. Additional film appearances included The Misleading Lady, Roaming Lady, The President's Mystery, Adventure in Manhattan, We Who Are About to Die, Dangerous Number, Espionage, Ready, Willing and Able, Love Is a Headache, Hold That Kiss, Listen, Darling, The Girl Downstairs, She Married a Cop, He Married His Wife, La Conga Nights, Hit Parade of 1941, Hullabaloo, One Night in the Tropics, Love Thy Neighbor, The Reluctant Dragon, Tall, Dark and Handsome, A Man Betrayed, Kisses for Breakfast, and The Great Awakening.
Parker died at the Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Los Angeles on August 5, 1941, following a series of heart attacks. He was survived by two sisters.
