Barbie Ferreira

Barbie Ferreira, born Barbara Seppe Ferreira in East Harlem, New York City, is an American actress, model, and Broadway performer. She grew up in the Queens borough of New York City before her family relocated to Maywood, New Jersey, where she attended Hackensack High School. Of Brazilian descent, Ferreira was raised by her mother, aunt, and grandmother, both her mother and aunt working as chefs.

Ferreira entered the modeling industry as a teenager by submitting plus-sized modeling photos to an open casting call held by American Apparel. She subsequently built a modeling portfolio that included campaigns for brands such as Aerie, Adidas, Asos, Forever 21, H&M, Missguided, and Target. Unretouched images and a video interview from her Aerie campaign attracted widespread attention in 2016, the same year Time magazine included her on its list of the 30 Most Influential Teens.

Her acting career began with web-based projects, including How to Behave, a ten-episode Vice series focused on etiquette, for which she received a Webby Award for Best Web Personality/Host. She also appeared in the Teen Vogue web series Body Party, centered on body positivity. Her television work expanded to include two episodes of the HBO series Divorce, in which she played the character Ella.

Ferreira became widely recognized for her role as Kat Hernandez, a high school student, in the first two seasons of the HBO series Euphoria, which aired from 2019 to 2022. In August 2022, she announced she would not return for the show's third season, citing disagreements with series creator Sam Levinson, though in a 2023 appearance on the podcast Armchair Expert she characterized those reported reasons as fabricated. Her film work includes the 2020 HBO Max release Unpregnant, opposite Haley Lu Richardson, a supporting role in Jordan Peele's Nope in 2022, and the psychological thriller House of Spoils alongside Ariana DeBose, which began streaming on Amazon Prime Video in October 2024.

In 2024, Ferreira made her Broadway debut in Cult of Love, adding stage performance to her credits across television, film, and digital media.
