Barbara Everest (19 June 1890 – 9 February 1968) was a British stage and film actress born in Southfields, Surrey, England. Her career spanned both sides of the Atlantic, encompassing work in London theatre, Hollywood film, and the Broadway stage.
Everest made her screen debut in the 1916 film The Man Without a Soul, launching a film career that would extend across several decades. Among her most recognized screen performances was the role of Elizabeth, a hard-of-hearing servant, in the 1944 film Gaslight. On the stage, she appeared as Queen Anne in Norman Ginsbury's 1935 historical play Viceroy Sarah.
Her Broadway career ran from 1941 to 1948 and included appearances in several productions. She took part in the comedy Sheppey and the drama Anne of England, as well as The Linden Tree. Originally from London, Everest brought her background in British theatre to her work on the American stage during this period.
