About
Barbara Chilcott Davis (September 10, 1922 – January 1, 2022) was a Canadian actress whose career spanned stage, film, and television across several decades. Born in Canada, she trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London following the war and made her West End debut in 1949. Upon returning to Canada in 1950, she established herself as one of the country's prominent stage performers.
In 1953, Chilcott co-founded the Crest Theatre troupe in Toronto alongside her brothers Murray and Donald Davis. The company operated for over a decade, closing in 1966. Her stage work extended to Broadway, where she appeared in 1956 in the melodrama Tamburlaine the Great.
Chilcott also accumulated a number of film credits over the course of her career. These included roles in The Full Treatment (1960), in which she played Baroness de la Vailion, and The Trap (1966), where she appeared as a Trader's Wife. She portrayed Mrs. Tannenbaum in Lies My Father Told Me (1975), took on the role of Critic at Garden Party in M. Butterfly (1993), and appeared as Mrs. Holman in No Contest II (1996).
