About
Baby Cele-Maloka is a South African actress born on 22 March 1972 in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal. She appeared on Broadway between 1988 and 1990, performing in the stage musical Sarafina!, which also represents one of her stage credits alongside the play Cards.
In South Africa, Cele built a substantial television career across multiple platforms. She spent eight years portraying Kaltego Rathebe on the e.tv youth soap opera Backstage before taking on the role of Portia in the SABC 1 sitcom My Perfect Family. In 2011, she appeared as Beauty in the mini-series Shreds & Dreams, an adaptation of Clare Stopford's 2004 play. Between 2012 and 2013, she played Slindile Dludlu in the Mzansi Magic telenovela Inkaba, and she also appeared as Gasta Cele in the soap opera Zabalaza. In 2016, she took on the role of Sibongile Nene on Isidingo. She joined the cast of the telenovela Uzalo in 2018, where she portrays the character Gabisile Mdletshe.
Cele is married to businessman Thabo Maloka. She is a mother of two children, including an adopted child named Sandiso Vusumuzi Thwala.
