About
Augusta Anderson (November 7, 1875 – December 18, 1951) was a Swedish-born actress who built a career spanning both Broadway and American cinema. Born in Öberga, Sweden, she later settled in the United States, where she worked as a performer across stage and screen for several decades. She died in Santa Monica, California.
Anderson made her Broadway appearance in 1913, taking part in the production A Good Little Devil. Her transition to film followed shortly after, with her screen career beginning in 1914 and extending through 1937. Among her film appearances were Classmates (1914), The Rainbow Princess (1916), The Seven Swans (1917), and two 1918 productions, Rich Man, Poor Man and Uncle Tom's Cabin.
Her work in film continued into the 1920s with a series of roles that included Come Out of the Kitchen (1919), The Career of Katherine Bush (1919), Sinners (1920), Guilty of Love (1920), A Romantic Adventuress (1920), and The Blasphemer (1921). Her final screen credit came with Smashing the Vice Trust in 1937, marking more than two decades of work in American film.
In her personal life, Anderson was married to Andy Anderson, a comedian and assistant director associated with Keystone productions.
