About

Arlene McQuade (May 29, 1936 – April 21, 2014) was an American actress who worked across theater, television, and radio. A native of New York, New York, she began her acting career at the age of four and went on to build a body of work that spanned multiple decades and mediums.

McQuade's Broadway career ran from 1944 to 1948 and included appearances in The Secret Room, the comedy Violet, and Summer and Smoke. Her television work brought her significant recognition, particularly her recurring role as Rosalie on the CBS series The Goldbergs. She reprised that character in the 1951 film Molly, an adaptation of the radio series on which the show was based. Her screen credits also include a 1960 appearance on the television series Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

In her personal life, McQuade was the first wife of actor Valentin de Vargas, whom she met on the set of Touch of Evil. De Vargas died in 2013.

McQuade died on April 21, 2014, at a nursing home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, at the age of 77. Her death followed a prolonged illness with Parkinson's disease. She was the daughter of Arthur and Rita McQuade.
