About

Arda La Croix was an American actor, screen performer, and author whose career spanned stage, film, and fiction writing in the early twentieth century. His sister was Dorothy La Croix.

La Croix began his theatrical career before his Broadway years, appearing in productions with the John Dillon Company and taking a role in the play In a Woman's Power in 1901. His Broadway work extended from 1904 to 1918 and included the play Success Story, the musical The Love Cure, and the musical The Street Singer.

Alongside his stage career, La Croix built a parallel presence in silent film. He played Donald MacGregor in the 1916 production The Daughter of MacGregor, followed by the role of Chaupin in Her Silent Sacrifice in 1917. That same year he appeared in The Belgian. In 1918 he took the role of Curé in The Grouch, which also featured Montagu Love and Dorothy Green. His final screen credit was Courage for Two in 1919, in which he played Hubert and was billed as Arda Lacroix.

La Croix also worked as an author, writing prose adaptations of popular plays. His pulp fiction version of Billy the Kid was published by J. S. Ogilvie Publishing Co. in 1907. He additionally wrote adaptations of Joseph Stanley's play Lucky Jim and James Kyrle MacCurdy's Yankee Doodle Detective.
