About

Anthony Marciona is an American actor, singer, and dancer born on September 27, 1961, in the Bronx, New York. His parents, Joseph Marciona, a retired New York City teacher, and Louise Marciona (née Smedile), raised him in the Bronx before the family relocated to Pelham in Westchester County, where Marciona graduated from Pelham Memorial High School. He subsequently returned to New York City to pursue his career.

Marciona's professional career began at age five, when he appeared in the 1968 film The Brotherhood playing Kirk Douglas's godson. His Broadway career spanned from 1968 to 1989 and included credits in the musicals Gypsy, Georgy, Zorba, and Starlight Express.

His formal training was extensive and drawn from multiple institutions. Marciona studied filmmaking at the School of Visual Arts in New York, the University of California Los Angeles, and earned a business degree from SMC. He pursued composition and jazz studies at the Manhattan School of Music. His dramatic training included work at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, HB Studios, The Groundlings, and BANG, and he received coaching from Sanford Meisner, Diane Castle, Bill Esper, and John Kirby.

In 1990, Marciona founded ETC Inc., a nonprofit organization that presents new American theater in Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles, and he has served as its director. He co-established the production company D.I.Y.N. Productions with Raymond Carver Award-winning writer and director Joyceann Masters, under which he produced four short film projects that received recognition on PBS and the festival circuit. Marciona also created and operated The Space, a multimedia arts complex in Hollywood, California, which housed multiple casting studios, two performing arts theaters, rehearsal facilities, and production offices. Additionally, he worked as a commercial casting session director for clients including McDonald's, Pepsi, and United Airlines.

As a composer, Marciona completed the scores for the stage musicals Murder at the Palace and Powder Puff Derby. LoBue, and has one sister.
