About
Anne Horak Gallagher, born May 5, 1984, in De Pere, Wisconsin, is an American actress working across stage, television, and film. Her father, Richard Horak, is an orthopedic surgeon, and she was raised alongside her mother, Ellen. She attended Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay, where she took lead roles in school musicals including Crazy for You, before earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan.
Horak's professional stage career began to take shape through regional and out-of-town productions, including a run in the Toronto production of Irving Berlin's White Christmas. That experience preceded her Broadway debut in the 2008 New York production of the same musical, in which she played Rita under the direction of Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie. She subsequently toured nationally as Inga in Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein, a production directed by Susan Stroman. Her Broadway work continued in 2013 with Chicago, where she first appeared as Mona before assuming the role of Roxie Hart, a part she also performed on the show's national and international tours. Her verified Broadway credits span from 1996 to 2013 and include Chicago, Irving Berlin's White Christmas, and Frankenstein.
Beyond Broadway, Horak has performed in a range of notable stage productions. In 2017 she played Patsy in MCP's 25th Anniversary Concert of Crazy for You at Lincoln Center's David Geffen Hall, and later that same year appeared as Clo-Clo in the Metropolitan Opera's production of The Merry Widow, also at Lincoln Center, with both productions directed by Susan Stroman. In 2018 she performed in a concert version of On the Town with the Boston Pops, directed by Kathleen Marshall. Her regional credits include Gretchen in Boeing-Boeing at Paper Mill Playhouse, Sheila in A Chorus Line at Lexington Opera House, and Charity in Sweet Charity at the Marriott Theatre.
Her screen work includes a role in Martin Scorsese's film The Irishman and appearances in the television series Forever, Submissions Only, Royal Pains, A Gifted Man, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She also appeared as herself in a 2014 episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. In September 2019, Horak married U.S. Representative Mike Gallagher, taking the name Anne Horak Gallagher. The couple have two daughters.
