About
Anna Bamford is an Australian actress born on 19 September 1989 in Sydney, who has worked in both television and theatre, including a Broadway appearance in 2017. She grew up in Killara and attended Barker College. After completing secondary school, Bamford took a year off to travel and briefly studied nursing for six months before committing to an acting career. She relocated to Perth to attend the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, where she graduated in 2012. During her time at WAAPA, she performed in productions including The Crucible and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Shortly after graduating, Bamford was cast in the leading role of Miranda Beaumont in the Network Ten drama Wonderland. The character, a photographer, moves in with fellow lead Tom Wilcox, played by Michael Dorman, and becomes his love interest. The performance earned Bamford a nomination for Most Outstanding Newcomer at the 2014 Logie Awards. Wonderland ran for three seasons before its cancellation in 2015. That same year, Bamford also made a guest appearance in Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries.
Following the end of Wonderland, Bamford made her theatre debut in a production of Freak Winds at the Old Fitz Theatre in Woolloomooloo. In August 2015, she joined Andrew Upton's production of The Present at the Sydney Theatre Company, performing alongside Cate Blanchett, Richard Roxburgh, Jacqueline McKenzie, and Marshall Napier. In 2016, Bamford joined the cast of the soap opera Home and Away in the recurring role of Jeannie Woods, a character introduced as a love interest for Brody Morgan, played by Jackson Heywood. She was contracted for six weeks, and filmed her first scenes the week after auditioning.
In January 2017, The Present transferred to the Ethel Barrymore Theatre in New York City with its entire original cast intact, marking Bamford's Broadway debut. Her Broadway credit is listed under the title The Passing Present.
