Crumb's Broadway career spanned from 1987 to 1999. She made her Broadway debut as a member of the original cast of Les Misérables in 1987. Her subsequent Broadway credits included Chess, Anna Karenina, Aspects of Love, and Swing! In Anna Karenina, she received a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical nomination in 1993. Beyond Broadway, Crumb toured in the title role of Evita and performed in regional theatre productions at venues including the Guthrie, Coconut Grove Playhouse, and Tennessee Repertory Theatre. Her television work encompassed daytime dramas As the World Turns, The Guiding Light, and Another World, as well as the primetime series Law & Order and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. She was also in pre-production for a miniseries called The Road to Saint Lazarre, in which she was set to portray spy Mata Hari.
Her recordings include A Broadway Diva Swings, a concert recording of Nine alongside Jonathan Pryce and Elaine Paige, and Unto the Hills, a collaboration with her father. Outside of her performing career, Crumb was active in animal rescue and adoption.
