Anita Sharp-Bolster was an Irish actress born on 28 August 1895 in Glenlohane, Kanturk, County Cork, Ireland. She performed under both her full name and the shortened billing of Anita Bolster across stage, film, radio, and television work spanning five decades. She died on 1 June 1985 in North Miami, Florida. She was married to Jacob Schwartz.
Sharp-Bolster's Broadway career ran from 1939 to 1948 and included appearances in Kathleen, Pygmalion, Lady in Waiting, and Where There's a Will. The production Page Pygmalion is also listed among her verified stage credits.
Her film career began in Britain with What Money Can Buy in 1928 and encompassed 88 films through 1978. She made her American film debut in 1942 in Alfred Hitchcock's Saboteur. Throughout her movie career she worked steadily in character roles. Sharp-Bolster also worked with the BBC in radio during her time in the United Kingdom.
Her television work included appearances in 12 series between her earliest credits and 1978. Among her television roles, she played Gran Foskett in an episode of The Larkins in 1959, Ada Harmer in a 1962 episode of The Saint, Mrs. Trott in the 1971 production of Jude the Obscure, a Mountain Witch in Skiboy in 1973, and a role in a 1976 episode of Thriller. Billed as Anita Bolster, she appeared in three episodes of Dark Shadows in March 1968, portraying a witch named Bathia Mapes who attempted without success to lift a curse of vampirism from the character Barnabas Collins.
