About

Angie L. Schworer is a Broadway actress and dancer whose stage career spans from 1991 to 2022. She is recognized for originating the role of Angie in The Prom on Broadway and for holding the distinction of being the longest-running Ulla in The Producers.

Schworer began dancing lessons at age five. During high school she was a cheerleader, and she did not pursue musical theatre until college. She attended Northern Kentucky University's School of Arts for three years before accepting a scholarship at Disney Orlando. While still employed at Disney, she auditioned for The Will Rogers Follies in 1991, booked the role, and made her Broadway debut as a swing. She subsequently replaced performers in Crazy for You, Sunset Boulevard, Annie Get Your Gun, and Young Frankenstein.

In 2000, Schworer served as an assistant choreographer on the Broadway revival of The Rocky Horror Show. The following year she joined the original Broadway cast of The Producers as an ensemble member and understudy for the role of Ulla. After traveling with the touring company from 2002 to 2003, she returned to the Broadway production and remained as the permanent Ulla replacement until the show closed in 2007. She was also a member of the original Broadway ensembles of Catch Me If You Can, Big Fish, and Something Rotten!, and later appeared in Some Like It Hot.

Schworer originated the role of Angie Dickinson in The Prom on Broadway, for which she received a 2019 Chita Rivera Award nomination for Outstanding Female Dancer in a Broadway Show. Her regional and touring credits include Lily St. Regis in Annie, Jackie in Disaster!, Tanya in Mamma Mia!, Monette in Always a Bridesmaid, Nickie in Sweet Charity, and Roxie Hart in Chicago.

In her personal life, Schworer is married to Richard Bird, her second husband. She is stepmother to his two children and is also a grandmother.
