Andy Señor, Jr.

Andy Señor, Jr., born Andres Señor Jr. on September 20, 1974, in Miami, Florida, is an American actor, stage director, and filmmaker. He was raised in Miami by parents who were both Cuban exiles working in the Latin American music industry. Their home served as a gathering place for musicians, among them Gloria Estefan and Jon Secada. Señor studied theater at Florida International University, where he earned his degree in 1997. The university later recognized him with a Torch Award in 2015, citing him as a distinguished alumnus.

Señor made his professional debut in the Tony Award-winning musical Rent, originating the role of Angel. He performed the role across multiple productions, including the Broadway run, the London production, tours throughout Asia, a Los Angeles engagement, and US national tours. His Broadway career spanned from 1996 to 2009.

Beyond performing, Señor built a career as a director and producer. In 2015, he served as associate director on the Broadway production of On Your Feet!, the musical based on the life of Gloria Estefan, bringing his career into direct connection with the musicians who had performed in his family home years earlier. That same year, he directed and produced a production of Rent in Havana, Cuba, which marked the first Broadway musical co-production between the United States and Cuba in fifty years. Señor subsequently documented that undertaking in the film Revolution Rent, which premiered in 2019 at DOC NYC, the Key West Film Festival, and the Miami International Film Festival, before being released by HBO on June 15, 2021.

His film and television work includes appearances in Dummy and Lola, a recurring presence on the NBC series Ed, and guest spots on Regis and Kelly and The Rosie O'Donnell Show. He also served as a presenter at the Latin Billboard Music Awards and provided the voice of Rembrandt in the 2005 video game The Warriors.
